Interior Design for the Elderly

Population ageing, defined as a process which increases the proportion of old people within the total population, is one of the main problems of this century. It affects or will affect both developed and developing countries. This book aims to analyze the environmental elements of residential facilities for elderly people. The relationship between the environment and health is clearly identified. This information facilitates the presentation and development of residential facilities with healthy living conditions for elderly people. The concept includes providing a residential environment that is safe from a variety of dangers by applying a barrier-free concept to address the physical changes of elderly people. It also provides an environment equipped with a continuous protection system that considers both the physical and socio-psychological aspects of this particular treatment environment. Interior design, planning and design of man-made spaces, a part of environmental design and closely related to architecture. Although the desire to create a pleasant environment is as old as civilization itself, the field of interior design is relatively new. It is hoped that the book will serve the purpose of students and scholars on the subject and can be useful to them in allied fields.
