Anything that could strike, struck. Anything that could be striken, was striken. The clock struck morning hour of September 11, 2001. A highjacked jet plane carrying a passenger load struck the World Trade Centre tower and exploded. Another followed and struck the second tower. A third plane struck the high security building of the Pentagon. Death struck some 7000 odd innocent children men and women, from all countries, all religions. Osama Bin Laden, the super terrorist had struck. He denied involvement but backstroked the attackers. Denial made no sense. It was the most horrendous of the terrorists’ strikes. President Bush struck his head in agony and anger on October 1, 2001, the terrorists struck J&K assembly and killed 40 souls. The terrorists strike, whomsoever, wherever, whenever. The idea of scruples or morals does not strike them. It struck the authors to go into anatomy, physiology, psychology and organisation of this global crime. They found that new creed of fidayeens is coming up fast. They are Muslim fundamentalists who are strongly indoctrinated. It is hammered into their head that to kill and be killed is holy. To them it is Islam versus the rest of the world. The topics of the book include genesis of terrorism, its Frankensteinian aspect , countries involved directly or indirectly, the global cooperation against it and war on it, finances, gun and drug running connections. So far there is no precise definition of terrorism. Authors have tried to bring out one. "International Terrorism"; is timely, lasting and not just another book.
