Interrogating Caste and Gender Hierarchies: Study of Selected Contemporary Indian Novels

This book proposes to delimitate the issues of caste hierarchy, female marginalization and women as the caste ‘Other’ as depicted in contemporary Indian novels penned down in the span of nearly five decades of post-coloniality and postmodernity in variegated geographical, social, economic and cultural locales. It also locates the paradigmatic shifts, in any, in terms of her location-dislocation-relocation within the institution of caste in the nation state.
