'Introduction to Kasyapa Samhita' is an attempt to study in depth the book Kasyapa Samhita, the only source book of kaumarabhartya. As presently available Kasyapa Samhita is published on the basis of single, incomplete manuscript, naturally various aspects of the book i.e. its authorship specially of supplementary section (khila Sthana), its contributions in the advancement of the knowledge of ayurveda in general and kaumarabhrtya in particular, its period etc. need a fresh look. In present book an attempt has been made to discuss these various aspects on the basis of internal and external evidences, naturaly it is likely to be very useful for historians, research workers, teachers and student of ayurveda.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR P.V. Tewari
Dr. (Km) P.V. Tewari, Professor Prasuti Tantra, cum coordinator faculty of ayurveda and ayurvedic pharmaceuticals, I.M.S., BHU, Varanasi, ex. dean faculty of ayurveda and H.O.D., Deptt. of Prasuti Tantra; daughter of freedom fighter (Late) Pt. Rama Shankar Tewari, recipient of Tamra patra, awarded by then Prime Minister of India (Late) Smt. Indira Gandhi and late Mrs Rama Devi Tewari, also a freedom fighter, who lost her life during 1942, noncooperation movement; a throughout meritorious student is an eminent authority and reputed teacher of Kaumarabhrtya (Obs., Gyne. and Pedi.) and is well known for her significant contributions in the field of literature, clinical and experimental research work, She has produced large no. of Ph.D's, D.Ay.M./M.D. Ay. scholars, published research papers in national and international Journals; written, edited and translated, contributed chapters and written forewords in no. of books; delivered keynote lectures, extension lectures, and has completed projects sponsored by W.H.O., governmental and non-governmental agencies. She has been associated with highest academic and administrative bodies of ayurveda and is recipient of national and international awards.
