ABOUT THE AUTHOR L.M. Singhvi

A scholar-statesman, endowed with prodigious creativity and versatility, Dr. L.M. Singhvi is truly a world citizen. He is a lifelong student and exponent of Vedic and Sramana heritage of India, a world leader in the movement for Culture of Peace and inter-faith tolerance and understanding, a committed environmentalist, an author, poet, an eminent jurist, publicist, linguist and litterateur. For seven years, Dr. Singhvi served as India’s High Commissioner in the United Kingdom with the rank of Cabinet Minister. Dr. Singhvi was one of the Presidents of the Centernial Parliament of World’s Religions held in Chicago in 1993. He led the Indian delegations to the UN Conference on Human Rights in Vienna in 1993 and the UNESCO Conference on Culture of Peace in Stockholm in 1998. Dr. Singhvi was elected to the International Court of Arbitration at The Hague in 2000. Elected to Lok Sabha in 1962, Dr. Singhvi is a member of Rajya Sabha and Chairman, High Level Committee on Indian Diaspora. He is the President of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, an apex institution of culture. He is also the author of Freedom on Trial, A Tale of Three Cities (Cambridge University), Towards Global Togetherness, Democracy and Rule of Law, The Jain Declaration on Nature, Jurisprudence of Non-violence, Sandhya Ka Suraj (poetry) and Bharat Aur Hamara Samaya.
