This book looks at the momentous changes in Asia in the recent past and what this implies for Japan which seems to have lost more than a decade. The resurgence around Japan creates the image of a floundering Japan amidst a dynamic Asia. Looking at the economic, historical, political, social and strategic issues, the book strives for a better appreciation of the facets of the complex reality which is at variance with the general perceptions. It points out underlying issues and major trends. Importantly it looks at what Japan and the rest of Asia can offer each other, without using a what-lessons-to-learn kind of approach. Asia has much to imbibe from Japan despite its apparent loss of vitality. Japan too has many cues to pick up from Asia.
