Determination of longevity is an integral of horoscopy. It is as different and complicated as it is important. The author, who is both a teacher and a practitioner of the science, has dealt with the whole subject in an easy to understand style for the beginner as well as the seasoned. Beginning with the elementaries he proceeds in sequence to the more and more difficult aspects of subject culminating ultimately in their synthesis. First he outlines the essential procedures for checking the correctness of time and date of birth for preparing the birth chart and then he goes on to the identification of inauspicious yogas has been logically explained. A deeper analysis of many methods of mathematical calculation of longevity and their application is enriched by practical examples.

Dr. Dhirendra Prakash Saxena (b. 1934) has had a brilliant academic career. After passing M.A. (Economics) in Ist Division also M.A. Sociology in Ist Division with Ist Rank in the Universtiy, he obtained LL.B. and Ph.D. degrees. A seasoned and experienced teacher and research guide, Dr. Saxena's professional career spans over three decades. His subjects of specialisation are Sociological Theory, Sociology of Rural Emigration, Sociology of Deviance, Social Research and Sociology of Development. He participated in about 50 National and State level seminars, workshops and conferences and the two World Congresses. He was invited to deliver lectures and as a special invitee at various places in the country. He has published two Research papers in International Journals and about thirty-five Research Papers in the National journals. He is the author of Rururban Migration in India. Currently he is serving as Professor and Head, Sociology Department, and Dean, Students Welfare, Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur (U.P.) India.
