ABOUT THE AUTHOR Deb Mukharji

Deb Mukharji was a member of the Indian Foreign Service. He has been walking and hotographing the Himalaya for five decades. He conducted the first group of Indian pilgrims to Kailash and Manasarovar in 1981, when pilgrimages from India were resumed after a hiatus of twenty years. His photographs have been published in numerous journals and featured in exhibitions where they have been critically acclaimed for their artistic quality. His first book The Magic of Nepal, featuring photographs and accounts of his walks in the Nepal Himalaya appeared in 2005.
