ABOUT THE AUTHOR Javid Iqbal

Dr Javid Iqbal was born in Lahore and did his Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and Masters in English and Philosophy from Government College, Lahore. He obtained his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, England, and his Bar-at-Law from Lincoln’s Inn, London. He holds an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Villanova University, USA, and an honorary Doctorate of Islamic Literature & Science from Seljuk University, Turkey. He became a judge at the Lahore High Court in 1971 and was elevated to the eminent position of the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court in 1982, which he headed till 1986. From 1986 to 1989, he served as Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan. He has also been Pakistan’s Delegate to the United Nations General Assembly and has represented Pakistan at various other forums.
