The novel presents three women characters Arundhati, Tara and Mina whose lives and relationships dominate the story and through whom we learn a little bit more about ourselves. They talk about their sexuality, their innate passions and their changing persona with a frankness that is engaging and mirrors our own constantly evolving emotions. The novel focuses on the modern Indian woman’s sexuality with delicate sensitivity and paints a startling portrait of their dreams that many a time remain just that. Their stories, while full of pain and disillusionment, are also reflective of a growing process we all must go through. At the end of the novel, each woman is wiser, more seasoned, and yet what comes through is woman’s indefatigable spirit that always survives, no matter how far she plummets.
