The Ladakh region has for long been in media limelight, due to its strange topography, geology, climate, culture, custom, natural scenic splendour and aesthetic religious fervour. The transit stations of Ladakh for pony-yak-sheep laden trade route to Yarkand (Central Asia) have been a riddle and strange culturally mystic experience in the past. Buddhist monasteries unpolluted patterns of mysterious Yog-tantra, typical livestock and lonely petty avocation of cultivation are the rarest descriptions. The book makes an admixture of field-survey results and exploration of possibilities of using science and technology for betterment. The interblending of technology to group fresh flowers and green vegetables in the snow frozen and breezy wind swept area has been nicely presented. It is an interesting reading material for anthropologists, sociologists, economists and wider galaxy of readership associated with tourism.
