ABOUT THE AUTHOR Amit Hazra

Dr. Amit Hazra (b. 1963) is a reader in economics in the department of Social Studies and Rural Development, Visva-Bharati University. He did his Post-Graduation from the State Agricultural University (Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya) and has received his Ph.D. from Visva-Bharati. He joined the department in 1993 and has attended a number of national and international seminars, conferences and symposiums. Dr. Hazra has published more than 20 articles in international and national journals of repute. He has also acted as the Vice-Principal of the Institute of Rural Reconstruction, Visva-Bharati. His areas of specialization are rural development methodologies like PRA/PLA, participatory development and sustainable rural development.
