ABOUT THE AUTHOR Subhas C. Biswas

Subhas C. Biswas (1932) was born at Cooch Behar, West Bengal. He was educated at Calcutta and London universities; qualified as a Chartered Librarian (ALA), and Library Associationm London (1964). His career in librarianship spans over 40 years serving Calcutta University, British Museum, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, British Council, Central Secretariat Library and others. Presently he is heading a project with the US Library of Congress Office, New Delhi. He was the President of the Indian Library Association during 1990-92; served various National and International committees, commissions, etc. in various capacities, Published-Communication in the third World - A Selecet Bibliography (1987); Union Catalogue of Philosophical Periodicals (1989) and several articles in professional journals.
