Serials may be said to be any publication which continues on a serial basis, either regularly or irregularly. The history of serials automation, the role of standards, and steps in the automation of serials processing are discussed in this book. It focuses on automation’s use for serials management and control rather than technological details about hardware, software, systems specifications, etc. These materials will be useful and valuable for both students and researchers, as well as professional librarians, documentationalists, information technologists and communicators.
