The present volume brings together essays by some of the most distinguished scholars of the country and abroad. These essays were originally delivered as Memorial Lectures in the Department of English at Banaras Hindu University. The volume offers a rich fare of literary discourse by seeking to build a bridge between the Eastern and the Western intellectual traditions.
