ABOUT THE AUTHOR D.C. Jha

D.C. Jhawas born in 1926. He was brought up in one of Gandhi Ashrams near Kolkata, where Mahatma Gandhi used to stay during his visits to Bengal and Assam. He worked with Amhatma Gandhi's Secretary Pyarelal for a decade on his project of multi-volume biography of Mahatma Gandhi, followed by working of another decade with his sister Dr. Sushila Nayar as her Secretary in the Health Ministry and later as Project Administrator of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences which Dr. Nayar was establishing at Sevagram. This is the fourth edition of the book first published in 1995. The book was translated and published in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Gujarati editions as well.
