The study is concerned with the establishment of the rule of the Delhi Sultanate over Malwa for about a century. It discusses the impact of the sultanate that touched different aspects of life in the region, giving a new shape to the administration of the area and influencing the social and cultural life of the region. It presents the history of the Malwa region under the Delhi Sultans relying on historical sources that include contemporary Persian and Sanskrit works as well as regional literature, travellers’ accounts and inscriptions. It covers the various kings who conquered the region including Mahmud of Ghazni, Muhammad Ghur, the Sultanate rulers, the Khalji dynasty and the Tughlaq rulers. It discusses administrative, social, economic and cultural life under the Sultanate kings in detail.
