Economics is concerned with the intricate and complex actions and motives of man, and therefore it is closely related to ethics. It is true that it is no part of the function of a positive science to pronounce ethical judgements, but even the positive science cannot neglect the fact that amoral considerations often affect man’s conduct in business life, and must be given a place in the same manner as the facts of physical nature which also condition economic activity.
