The book deals with marine algae, with particular emphasis on forms occurring along the coasts of India. The treatment of the subject is designed primarily to attract the attention of graduate level students of botany and particularly of the students of marine biology. Altogether 45 genera of marine algae have been selected and their structure and reproduction described together with taxonomy. Chapters on phytoplankton, ecology and economic importance have been specially included.
