ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.S. Gaur

A.S. Gaur, Marine Archaeologist at the Marine Archaeology Center of the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, belongs to the first batch of the Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi. at present he is working on several aspects of marine archaeology including sea level and shoreline changes using archaeological evidences. Recently, he led a land excavation at Bet Dwarka. He has published a number of articles in national and international journals of archaeology and marine archaeology and scientific periodicals. He was especially deputed abroad by the NIO or marine archaeological research.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sila Tripati

Sila Tripati also belongs to the first batch of the Institute of Archaeology, Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi and presently employed at the Marine Archaeology Centre of the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, a constituent laboratory of CSIR. His articles have been published in the national and international journals on several aspects of the marine archaeology in India. Of late, he has been working on the shipwrecks, stone anchors and submerged ports of India.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sundaresh

Shri Sundaresh, a Marine Archaeologist working in National Institute of Oceanography since 1989. He has carried out underwater investigations at Dwarka, Bet Dwarka and Somnath as a principal investigator and at Poompuhar as a co-investigator. He has participated in all the underwater investigations along the Indian coast for the study of submerged ports and shipwrecks and also in an international expedition for the study of submerged structures in Japan waters. He has more than 40 research papers to his credit. Presently he is working on coastal archaeology and shipwrecks on south Indian coast.
