Marriage under Islam is a unique institution. It evaluates the existing legal measures and assesses the impact of codified Islamic law. This book also puts forward suggestions in order to eradicate the menace of forced marriage negotiations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Tanzeem Fatima

Tanzeem Fatima, hails from a family of Ulma. She has learned first principle of Islamic law by way of family tradition. Keen interest in Islamic family law prompted her to take this subject as a specialization at LL.M. level after graduating in Law from A.M.U., Aligarh. The present work is the result of her devoted and dedicated interest in the research work. She has contributed valuable and thought provoking articles in various magazines, newspapers and in the law journals. She is actively participated in the various national, international conferences, seminars and workshops, in her initial stage of academic work. She is awardee of the scholarship of Institute of Objective Studies at Aligarh Chapter, which is Non-Governmental Organization registered under the Socio-economic Council of United Nations. At present she is writing another book concerning plight of the prostitutes and sex workers in which she is going to highlight the problems and causes of the prostitution as per data collected from Delhi and Calcutta red-light areas. The Author is also an active woman activist and social worker. She is recipient of Sir Syyed Award from Jyotiba Pule Academy, Jaipur.
