ABOUT THE AUTHOR Biswajeet Guha

Biswajeet Guha (b. 1945) is a reputed High Court lawyer, legal aid coordinator, social activist and adviser on juvenile crime to three State governments. He obtained a Master’s degree in Sociology from the Calcutta university and a Second degree in Law from the University of Delhi. He has practiced law for over thirty years and has also taught in various law colleges in Calcutta, Bangalore and Hyderabad. He is a founder-member of PRAYATAN, a legal aid and counseling centre for juvenile offenders. His publication include two books entitled Violence and Non-Violence: Gandhi revisited and Conflict and Violence in Indian Society along with several distinguished papers.
