ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vinod Tagra
Ms. Vinod Tagra is post-graduate in English and History from Delhi University and did Advanced Course in French from the School of Foreign Languages, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Having worked for four years in Nehru Memorial Library and achieved proficiency in Nehru papers and other private collections, and also in research and reference work, she joined Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund in September 1969 to work for the project, Selected Works of Jawaharlald Nehru, headed by Professor S. Gopal, an eminent historian and an authority on Jawaharlal Nehru. As a Research Officer and then as Associate Editor she has made substantial contribution to various volumes of the project. Besides, she edited Jawaharlal Nehru: The Architect of Modern India, a documentary account of Nehru's concept of planning and development with a foreword by Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, in 1989, and a centenary volume, Kedar Nath Goenka, a prominent freedom fighter and social reformer, in 1991, and wrote Sant Mat: Way to Salvation in 1998. She also presented papers at some sessions of the Indian History Congress which were later published in its proceedings, and wrote some research papers for seminars and conferences, and new articles for the Press. She has been awarded Senior Fellowship by Indian Council of Social Sciences Research to work the present project.
