Meghnad Saha will always be remembered for his Theory of Thermal Ionization and its application in the interpretation of stellar spectra. His theory is considered to be one of the ten major discoveries in astrophysics. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Santimay Chatterjee

SANTIMAY CHATTERJEE Ph.D., F.N.A.Sc., an experimental physicist under Professor M N Saha, worked for the SINP of which a few years were spent at the University of Illinois. Since 1969 he is working at the BARC for their Variable Energy Cyclotron Project at Calcutta. He has edited Meghnad Rachana Sankalan, Collected Scientific Papers of Meghnad Saha and Collected Works of Meghnad Saha. He is also one of the editors of the journal, Science and Culture.
