Dr. Mukund Sharma is engaged in the study of Precambrian palaeobiology of India. He has obtained his Ph.D. from University of Lucknow in 1993 on the Palaeobiological remains of Vindhyan Supergroup. His participation in a project on Archaean palaeobiology resulted in recording of stromatolites and microfossils in the sedimentary rocks of Dharwar Craton. He has studied stromatolitic assemblages of various Proterozoic basins of India. Presently, he is involved in the stuffy of microbial buildups exposed in the southern Indian Proterozoic basins.
