ABOUT THE AUTHOR Asha Sinha

Asha Sinha is Professor in the Department of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U.) Varanasi (U.P.). She joined the department of Mycology and Plant Pathology, Institute of agricultural sci3ences, Banaras Hindu, University as senior research fellow in January 1980 and subsequently was appointed Lecturer in the same department. She has published research papers in the leading journal of both Indian and abroad. She has also edited a book on microbes and plants. Research field of her principal interest are microbial ecology, virology and mycology with particular interest in the area of plant litter decomposition. She has been engaged in teaching and research from more than 25 years. She has visited several foreign laboratories including those in Germany and USA and also participated in conference, seminar symposium and training courses. Presently she is life member of two reputed societies.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.C. Ram

R.C. Ram is Lecturer in the Department of Mycology and Plant Pathology, institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Baranasi (U.P.). he has authored two practical manuals on mushrooms cultivation and microbiology for B.sc. (Ag.) students. His specilization is on mushrooms and their cultivation techniques. He has also developed a new substrates sterilization technique for mushroom growers those free from chemicals and very cheapest to farmers. He has published several research papers, review papers and twenty-four popular Hindi and English articles in reputed j9ournals and magazines respectively. He has actively participated in three training courses, six national and international seminars, symposium and conferences and seven radio talk in All India radio and presented his research works. He has edited a boon on 'Modern Trends in Microbial Diversity'. He is a member of four reputed scientific societies of India. He is also Nodal Officer of mega seed Project (I.C.A.R.) in Mushroom seed Production.
