Military Governance in Pakistan

Pakistan is depicted as a nation of contradictions, replete with pockets of thriving guns and drug culture and prone to the act of terrorism. It is lodged between a weak democracy and benevolent autocracy since its inception. A good portion of feudal aristocracy has accepted the role of a second string to military supremacy since military in Pak has directly ruled the country for most of its history and has cultivated relations with the fundamentalists Islamic clergy to strengthen its hold on power. Pak military is a key source of instability in the region, internally it has destabilized elected governments.
