Museums are the abodes of goddess Saraswati, who can be equated with Muses, the goddesses of arts and culture in the Greek mythology. From being the place of philosophical discussion to an individual’s comprehensive collection to Ajayabghar (meaning a place housing the curiosities), the modern museums have come to be known as the repositories of wisdom. Delhi show-cases the diverse culture, arts history and life-styles of India through its museums. These museums offer something for the expert and the casual observer alike – from tribal life to the modern art, from ancient theatre – crafts to modern satellites & air-force bombers, and from the history of ancient links of India with Central Asia to the history of the dinosaurs. Now, a complete guide of these museums of Delhi, for the first time prepared by the author after a personal visit to all these museums. The book also includes details about some of the personal and other collections of Delhi.
