Music documents encoded in digital formats have rapidly been increasing in number with the advances in computer and network technologies. Managing large collections of these documents can be difficult and this has consequently motivated research towards computer-based Music Information Retrieval (MIR) systems. The present book provides a comprehensive analysis of the diverse aspects of music information retrieval. Besides narrating the applications and opportunities of MIR systems it also discusses the challenges and issues confronted by them. This work will serve a highly useful and authoritative reference tool not only for teachers and students of music but also for all general readers who are interested in music.
