ABOUT THE AUTHOR Indrani Chakravarti

Dr. Indrani Chakravarti (b. 1948), Master of Music, Ph.D. Sangit Prabhakar, Diploma in German is currently serving as Professor and Dean, Faculty of Performing Visual ARts, H.P. University, Shimla. Her subjects of specialisation are Instrumental Music, Musicology, Ethnomusicology, Aesthetics and Folk Music. She is 'A' Grade Radio and Television Artist in Sitar. She is the recipient of several Honours and Awards in Music. She attended a number of Seminars and symposia, Workshops and Drupad Melas and presented papers and lecture-cum-demonstrations both in India and abroad. She has already authored a book Sangit Manjusha. She has contributed 28 learned papers to various journals. She also supervises scholars for their doctoral research.
