This book of thoughts on the Gita contains a line-by-line translation of the slokas, grouped subjectwise under appropriate heads. It has an exhaustive table of contents as well as an index. In the book the author has fearlessly examined current beliefs about the doctrines of the Gita and made a serious attempt to bring the innate, sublime meaning into bold relief. In this respect he has made considerable departures from the great commentators like Sankara, Ramanuja, Jnaneshwar and Lokmanya Tilak. At the same time he agrees with them that unswerving devotion to the Lord is the key to liberation. The book was first published in 1931. The present edition has been brought out by the author’s son, incorporating the revisions the author had jotted down in a copy of the original.
