Native American and Native Indian’s is based on the authors’ study of the tribes in the Southwest of the United States of America. A Study based on actual field work as well as on research conducted at Museums and libraries in the United States; it brings out the anthropological facts about the major tribes in the region. It highlights the socio-cultural aspects of the tribes and focuses upon the striking similarities between the tribal culture in the U.S. Southwest and the major tribal groups in India. Their beliefs, faiths, superstitions and the rituals and performances at life-cycle rituals and festivals have been compared. The analysis of the cultural aspects and folk literature including myths exposes undercurrent of culture between two distantly situated populations. The adoption of Christianity and the impact of white Americans culture has not eroded the historically inherited tribal culture which shows its ethnic roots in Asian and even in Indian culture of the bygone ages.
