ABOUT THE AUTHOR D.N. Dhar

D.N. Dhar is a well-known author. His prominent works are: The Dynamics of Political Change in Kashmir, From Ancient to Modern Times and The Artisan of the Paradise, A Study of ARt and Artisans of Kashmir, From Ancient to Modern Times. The present work; Kashmir-The Land and its Management (From Ancient to Modern Times), constitutes one of the important parts of the author's micro-study of Kashmir'[s history on Subaltern model. The author is the founder member and the member of the Executive Committee of the HImalayan Research and Cultural Foundation, New Delhi. He has the distinction of having presented various reserch papers in national and international seminars. From his early age, Dhar was associated with the student movement as a part of the struggle of the people of Kashmir against autocracy and the age-old feudal order. After seeking Masters Degree in Economics, he joined teaching profession and headed the Department of Literacy Programme in Kashmir. Subsequently he joined Kashmir Civil Serve and served the Jammu and Kashmir State in various capacities enriching himself with vast experience in various fields. Taking advantage of the manifold experience, he made a bold attempt at the Research Project which will become a reality after the publication of the present work.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rupa Dhar

M.A., B.Sc., B.Ed., was principal and science co-ordinator of the campus school at the Indian Institute of technology, Kanpur, where she specialized in elementary science education. She has been an active member of the 'All India Science Teachers' Association, and her interests include child education, child psychology and folklore medicine.The authors would welcome suggestions and comments about the book from readers; including their personal experiences with herbal teas.
