ABOUT THE AUTHOR Mahadev N Joshi

Dr. M.N. Joshi has completed his M.A. and got his Ph.D. degree from the Karnatak University, Dharwad in 1985. Sanskrit as a lecturer. At present, he is Reader and Chairman of Sanskrit Deparatment, and also he is working as a co-ordinator of UGC/DSA/SAP/Phase II Programme inducted in the Dept. of Sanskrit K.U., Dharwad. In the Dept he had conducted three National Seminars on i.e. 1, Ecological Awareness in the Agama (Sept. 2000); 2. Veerasaivism in Saigamas, (Sept. 2001); 3. The concept of Beauty according to Indian Poets and Aestheticians (Oct. 2002) sponsored by the UGC Delhi. And he has conducted two daya workshop on Research Methodology in Sanskrit sponsored by Karnatak University Dharwad. Dr. Joshi has engaged himself in active Research studies since 1980. He has been guiding eight students working for Ph.D. He has already produced three Ph.D. holders. Dr. Joshi, has to his credit twenty-one books in Kannada as well as in English. In addition to Sanskrit Grammar, the Ayurveda is another field in which he has tried his level best to contribute to Sanskrit literature. His research papers are thirty-one and published in learned Journals. His latest book is 'An Introduction to Ayurveda-padartha-vijnana' for BAMS First Year course. He has been awarded the prestigious International Ramakrishna Award 2000, of Saraswati Vikas, Canada, and also was hooured with the epithet 'Sahitya Visharada' from s.N. Seva Trust Sri Datta Ksetra Audumbar (Sangali), Maharashtra, for his contribution to Sanskrit literature.
