ABOUT THE AUTHOR D.M. Bhat

D.M. Bhat is a scientist at the Centre for Ecological Sciences, IISc, Bangalore. He is stationed at the Field Research Centre at Sirsi in the Western Ghats region, where the nursery trials were conducted. His specialization includes forest ecology, ecodevelopment, and water pollution monitoring and abatement. He has published extensively on forest ecological aspects of the Western Ghats.

Vidya S Swamy is a scientist at IISc, Bangalore working for the project ‘Sustainable Transformation of Rural Areas’. She has worked extensively on medicinal plants and nursery practices. She was involved in the nursery trials at ASTRA. IISc, Bangalore.
