Party Politics in the Nehru Era throws light on much of what has gone on behind the scenes in the congress Party in Delhi. The personalities involved, the factional feuds and the issues and controversies of post-Independence politics in Delhi reveal the nature of the politics of the Congress during that period. Dr. Yogesh Puri’s study of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee is of great value as it represents almost archetypically the politics of the congress Party all over the country – the ideology, organization, support base, mobilization methods and electoral performance. This study provides significant insights into the working of the Congress in the post-Nehru period, leading to the contemporary state of the Congress (I).
