Microbes are the part of our lives in more ways than most understand. Microbiology is one of the most applied of all the biological sciences. Microbiology can be divided into two major fields: theoretical and applied. The major fields of applied microbiology are: Medical microbiology, Aquatic microbiology, Aero-microbiology, Agricultural, Industrial microbiology, Exo-microbiology and Geochemical microbiology. Industrial and pharmaceutical microbiology are the most promising areas of applied microbiology. Health care products derived from microbial biosynthesis are antibiotics, hormones, vitamins, and vaccines. Pharmaceutical microbiologists have several tricks to increase the amount of the chosen end product. Use of industrial fermentation processes begin with microbial cells acting as living factories. The present book is an attempt to provide overall information to the readers interested in pharmaceutical microbiology including Pharmaceutical Microbiology: Introduction and History, Microscopy, Classification of Microbes, Nature, Classification, Morphology and Synthesis of Viruses, Bacteriophages, Viruses of Eukryotes, Mycoplasmas and Mycoplasmas Viruses, Mycobacteria, Myxobacteria, Rickettsiae and Chlamydiae, Bacteria: Classification, Nomenclature, and Identification, Bacteria: Eubacteria, Archaeobacteria, Actinomycetes, Actinoplanetes and Maduromycetes, Spirochetes and Rickettsias, Eukaryota: Fungi, Nutrition and Photosynthesis in Bacteria, Growth and Development of Microorganisms, Cultivation of Bacteria and Viruses, Microbial Genetics, Methods of Sterilization, Methods of Disinfestation, Antibacterial and Antiviral Drugs, Microorganisms and Diseases in Man: Basic Concepts, Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, Mycobacterium, Human Pathogenic Viruses, Immunology and Serology, Animal Vaccine: Development and Production, Antimicrobial Sensitivity Tests, Practical Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Serological Tests, Biotransformation and Steroid Production.
