Pharmacognosy is the study of medicines derived from natural sources. Pharmacognosy has multidisciplinary characters such as to identify the drugs, its origin, morphology and microscopy to determine quality of drug, its chemical composition and therapeutic effects. It also develops methods of control to identify the plant products and to understand about the side effects and interaction of drugs. Objective in this book is to provide easy and detailed guidelines to students of pharmacy of first and second semester of various universities throughout India.
