Unlike many other books, isolation techniques of over fifty important phytopharmaceuticals have been explained under under the heading, Isolation of phytopharmaceuticals, as isolation and characterisation of therapeutically active ingredients are a vital part though many of these processes are of proprietary nature, The historical perspectives, basic techniques and applications of plant tissue culture have been discussed in the chapter on Plant Cell and Tissue Culture.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Vinod D Rangari

Dr. Vinod D. Rangari is an alumnus of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nagpur University. Later, he accomplished the Ph.D. degree at Regional Research Laboratory (CSIR), Jammu, under the guidance of world renowned Pharmacognosist, Prof. Dr. C. K. Atal. After an illustrious career as a teacher in various pharmaceutical colleges at Udaipur, Nashik Pune, Mysore and Himmatnagar (Gujarat), he is nowthe Principal and Professor of Pharmacognosy at the J. L. Chaturvedi College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Nagpur.
