Philosophy of Education includes discussions on Western ‘isms’ of philosophy and Indian philosophy of education from the Vedas to Contemporary Indian Philosophies. Besides clarification of the philosophical issues, emphasis has been laid on drawing the philosophical implications of every ‘ism’. All the eminent great educators, western and Indian, have been included in this book. Subject matter has been arranged according to problems of philosophy of education. Philosophy is the criticism and clarification of concepts. Thus, clarification and criticism have been the twin objectives of discussion in this book. Question Bank has been given at the end of the book for preparation for examination. Thus, the book is expected to serve as an ideal textbook on the subject.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Rajendra K. Jain
Rajendra K Jain of European Studies and Director, Europe Area Studies Programme, Centre for European Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal University, new Delhi. He was Network Coordinator of the JNU European Union Studies Programme (financed by the European Commission) (2002-2004). He was formerly Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow at the University of Constance and Visiting fellow at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University of London and the Foundation of Science and Politics, Germany. He has been Visiting Professor at the universities of Leipzig and Tuebingen and Maison des Sciences de I’Homme, Paris. He has published nearly sixty journal articles an is the author/editor of over twenty books, including India and the European Union in the 21st Century and the European Union in a Changing World.
