It is the first comparative and critical exposition of the Chandogya Upanisad with logical strength, metaphysical consistency and convincingness. Also, this work aims at drawing the attention of interested readers to understand the Upanisad in its realistic perspective. This work contains seven chapters which are systematically designed with fair and unbiased elucidation. And, the passages from standard original commentaries in the light of Advaita and Vasistadvaita have been used in the exposition of various doctrines, for the purpose of intelligent comparison. While discussing the metaphysical issues, the views of Sankara and Madhva among others are presented as they are, and then they are taken for critical evaluation. Two appendices: (1) Raghavendra yati-A Life Divine, (2) So’ hamasmi-In Its Realistic Perspective, as well as Select Bibliography are included at the end which add to the usefulness of the work. Hence, this work enables the discerning reader to see and appreciate the precise metaphysical value of the Upanisad. Therefore, the present work may claim to be a new exposition of philosophy of the Chandogya Upanisad.
