India has made rapid strides in the field of agricultural research and education. Green revolution witnessed the use of plant protection umbrella for new varieties and hybrids. Plant diseases are reasonably uniform in size and stability. They generally sediment between 50 and 500 and are resistant to chelating agents. In agricultural universities separate departments came into existence. The courses encompass all the branches like mycology, bacteriology, virology and nematology. This book has been formatted to cover several aspects of plant disease to cater to the need of students at graduate and post-graduate level. Several courses are offered at graduate level and it is difficult to have separate books for each course. Therefore, a broad treatment of the subject has been given here to cover wide-range of topics. Besides general plant pathology, major emphasis is given to plant disease management, techniques and brief descriptions of diseases caused by different plant pathogens and phanerogamic plants.
