India is a peace loving country. Truth and non-violence have always been the important features of our foreign policy since times immorial. We believe in the policy "Peace at home and peace abroad" and doctrine of "Live and Let live". Many important questions in the study of international relations are connected with the theory and practice of sovereign statehood which, as indicated, is the central historical institution of world politics. But there are other important issues as well. That has led to ongoing debates about the proper scope of international relations. At one extreme the scholarly focus is exclusively on states and interstate relations; but at another extreme international relations almost everything that has to do with human relations across the world. It is important to study these different perspective if we hope to have balanced and rounded knowledge of International relations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR A K Dixit

A.K. Dixit did his M.A. in History from Aligarh University in International Relations. He did his Ph.D. from Osmania University. He taught post-graduate classes in Aurangabad and later shifted to Osmania University. He writes regularly and has several books to his credit.
