Population, Development and Political Process in India

In this book, the linkages between population, development and political process have been examined with reference to India and in the context of a particular time frame, notably the period of national emergency (1975-77). While there is a considerable body of work on the links between population and development, there is not much of literature available on how politics impacts upon population issues. The present work attempts to cover this lacuna in the existing discourse by focusing upon the impact of firstly, population upon development and secondly, of politics upon population.
