ABOUT THE AUTHOR V.P. Luthra

Ved P. Luthra IES (Indian Economic Service) has retired from Planning Commission, (Government of India). Where he served for more than 20 years in various capacities. He was mainly associated with the Evaluation Study of Various Plan Programmes (mainly in rural areas) conducted by Programme Evaluation Organisation of the Planning Commission. He worked as Manage-ment Consultant with Department of Administrative reforms and public Grievances (GOI) for about six years. Worked with Shri L.K. Jha Advisor to the Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi on a special short assignment. Also worked with Dagli Committee (Committee on Controls and Subsidies), Ministry of finance (GOI) and also National Commission on Labour, Ministry of labour (GOI). The author attended several in job training courses at various institutes of repute like management Development Institute, Gurgaon, India Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi and a few other. After retirement he worked as Director (Research) with the Techno-economic research Institute, new Delhi and Director (Projects) with the Centre for Research Planning and action, new Delhi (both NGOs). Presently he is associated with Management Services of India New Delhi (NGO), as Director (Research) (Hony). Mr V.P. Luthra also published articles on “Community Development in India-Its Main Characteristics”, Evaluation of plan Programmes in India. Mr. Luthra has already authored bnook “Economics development Planning and Liberalisation” (Published by IVY Publishing house, distributed by Sarup and sons & Sons, Ansari Road, Daryaganj, new Delhi Price: Rs. 6oo/-). The book got a good response. This book ‘Poverty & Economic Reforms-Impact of Poverty Alleviation and other Sectors of Economy’ will hopefully get a very good response.
