ABOUT THE AUTHOR John Joseph Puthenkalam

John Joseph Puthenkalam, S.J. is currently an Associate Professor at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. Born in Kerala, India, in 1956, he joined the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in 1976. After taking degrees in Economics and Philosophy, he went to Japan in 1986, where he completed his Theology Studies at Sophia University, Tokyo. He obtained his Doctoral Degree in Economics from the University of Glasgow, U.K., in 1996. His award winning books include Comprehension of Freedom, published in London (1995) and The Collision of Cultures: Dialogue Between Globalization and Culture, published in Germany, (2001). His research aims at the integration of economics, culture and philosophy for human development, humane empowerment, and dignified and inclusive globalization.
