ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ahana Lakshmi

Dr. Ahana Lakshmi is a MSc (Environmental Toxicology) from the University of Madras and a PhD in Environmental Science from Anna University, Chennai. Author of numerous technical papers in Indian and foreign journals and over 100 shorts articles in various newspapers and magazines, many with science and environment themes. Has published number of short stories for children introducing simple biology/ecology concepts. Visiting faculty at Pondicherry and Mangalore Universities. Currently based in Chennai as an independent consultant. Fields of interest include environmental problems and ecotoxicology, coastal communities, environmental communication and creative writing.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR K.R. Sridhar

Dr. K.R. Sridhar (Reader in Biosciences, Mangalore University) graduated from the University of Mysore and obtained doctorate from Mangalore University. He was postdoctoral fellow at Mount Allison University, Canada and guest scientist at UFZ Center for Environmental Research, Germany. His major research interest includes the fungal diversity and ecology of fresh/polluted waters (Western Ghats), mangrove/marine waters (West Coast). He is interested in sand dune ecology and microbiology of West Coast of India. He has also initiated studies on the importance of wild legumes in human nutrition and production of fungal enzymes and secondary metabolites.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR M.N. Madhyastha

Dr. M.N. Madhyastha Professor and Chairman in Biosciences, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology. Mangalore University has post graduation and doctorate degree from Bombay University. He has a vast experience of more than 35 years as researcher, teacher, administrator and social worker. As a researcher has undertaken many research programs funded by national international agencies and published more than 70 research papers and reviews. He has visited many countries like USA, UK, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Netherlands in connection with research programs. He is a visiting professor at the School of Environment and Lifesciences, Salford University, UK. He is a member of various academic and policy-making bodies, appointment committees and life member of many prestigious professional bodies. He has successfully guided many students for doctoral degrees.
