This book is a pioneering attempt to express various perceptional judgement in everyday life. The book is divided in two parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to some aspects of the relation between the inner and outer worlds. It emphasizes the selective and interpretative nature of perception, and shows how the information that a person gets from a specified part of the outer world depends on the context, or total situation, and on his past experience, which is usefully thought of as being organized into schemata. In second part, it shows how the principles of perception which have been outlined in the previous chapters apply to some of the processes involved in the formulation of scientific judements. The first part of the book can be considered as illustrating the schemata I used in dealing with the material of the second part, that is, in exploring students’ ways of thinking and helping to make them more effective.
