ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ajit K. Dalal

Ajit K. Dalal is Professor of Psychology at the University of Allahabad. He has obtained D.Phil. degree from IIT, Kanpur. He was Fulbright Senior Fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles, UGC Career Awardee and ICSSR Senior Research Fellow. He was also a visiting faculty at the Queen's University, Canada, National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has published about 60 research articles and book chapters, in addition to six books.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Girishwar Misra

Girishwar Misra, Ph.D., is Professor and former Head, Department of Psychology, and Dean Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi. He has been Fulbright Fellow at Swarthmore College and the University of Michigan. During his academic career spanning over three decades, he has previously taught at the Universities of Bhopal, Allahabad and Gorakhpur. The Government of Madhya Pradesh conferred upon him the Radhakrishnan and Dr. Hari Singh Gaur Awards. Professor Misra has authored or edited Psychological Consequences of Prolonged Deprivation, Deprivation: Its Social Roots and Psychological Consequences, Applied Social Psychology in India, Perspectives on Indigenous Psychology, Psychological Perspectives on Stress and Health, Psychology of Poverty and Social Disadvantage, and Contributions to Psychology of Poverty and Social Disadvantage, and Contributions to Psychology in India. He has been President and Convener of the National Academy of Psychology, India. He is currently editing its journal Psychological Studies.
