The materials presented in the following compilation are grouped under the umbrella of public administration and responsible governance, and attempt to provide the reader with several aspects of the very cornerstone of public administration in a multi-faceted, self-driven, multicultured and planning oriented society. A number of unpublished papers and articles have been included and the volume also affords a historical perspective in the Indian context. The materials in the present collective form will serve as a useful panoramic window onto the very diverse, difficult and complex landscane that represents the modern state in action. The compilation will be welcome as a meaningful contribution to contemporary literature in this most significant area.
